Copyright is a set of rights which are granted to the author or creator of an original work. These rights include the right to duplicate, distribute or alter the work. Works which may be copyrighted include books, paintings, photographs, recordings, motion pictures, inventions and architectural drawings, among other things. Under copyright law, persons wishing to use the work of others must first seek and be granted permission.
